SEPA Project - Single Euro Payments Area - aims to harmonize European payment processes in Euro area, so the European Union euro payments are considered domestic payments and processed under the same conditions (performance, cost, ease, etc. ) regardless of national boundaries, the geographic location of the originator and payee.

Since 2007, the Romanian Banking Association (ARB), as representative of the Romanian banking community, is a member of the European Payments Council, also acting as the support organization for joining the SEPA schemes - NASO (National Adherence Support Organization) for banks in Romania.
